I have always gotten my glycerine at the drug store. I didn't know there were different kinds. I have used it to dry hydrangea but was disappointed as it changed color to tan.

Gardeniadyl: I was under the impression that glycerine was for foliage only not flowers, so perhaps this is why you were disappointed with the results. There are several ways to air dry hydrangeas - I find leaving them on the plant as long as possible (until papery) has worked the best for me. I wish my drug store would bring some glycerine in for me - but they only sell such small amounts that buying from them would be too expensive. I would like to use it for eucalyptus and larger branches. Thanks for your reply. Susan

You can buy Glycerin wholesale (in 1-gallons and larger) from Robert Koch Industries, in Colorado. My bottle is marked 99.6% pure vegetable glycerin and it is even Kosher. Their web site is www.kochcolor.com Vegetable glycerin does not smell like glycerin from animal fat.
