REALLY Thrifty Silica Gel

Has anyone ever considered using the desiccants that you find in the pockets of clothing items and accessories (purses, wallets, etc.) to dry flowers? It seems like it would be a great idea to just round up all of those left over "do not eat" packets and empty their contents into a small container for drying the flowers. Of course, it would take a considerable number of the packets to attain a large enough quantity of silica gel for the job, but it would probably have the same effectÂit's still silica gel (or some other hygroscopic substance).

I'm going to try this as soon as I can gather up enough of the packets, which shouldn't be hard since I find them lying around the house all the time. We won't know how truly ridiculous this idea is until someone actually tries it...
