Very tasty. Usually cooked with garlic, and served either alone (eaten with bread) or placed on top of rice. Add some lemon when served. The plant is rich with fibers and encourages bowel movements.

it's my favourite dish... milokhiya with rice.. add onion vinegar. usually cooked with chicken, sometimes toasted pita bread..broken and sprinkled in top of it..
Thanks for bringing this up.. I'll be looking for that seed... it usually grows about 2 feet high.. deep green leaves... spreading.

WE call this vegetable "saluyot" in the Philippines. May I ask where you bought the seeds? I'm interested in planting this in my back yard. It is sooo delicious, but is sold only in frozen packs here in America. I'd appreciate it if you can give me the store where you bought it.

Hey, I finally found people who have enjoyed eating the plant. I grow it every few years and have offered the "vegetable" to my produce subscribers -- few takers. Perhaps someone can give me recipes?

I think I bought my original seed through Nichols too.

I enjoy the melokhiya of rice and chicken. It's very popular in middleeastern cousine. It's sold in cans or dried or fresh. very vigorous grower. My dad grows it in the yard. It eventually spread in one season. It will not grow the next season. Unless you save seeds and plant them.
