The curtains don't look full enough to close and they appear to be rod-pocket style which do not easily move back and forth. It looks as if they retained the verticals to be the functional window covering and the drapes are intended to make the room more residential and less "office-y" which verticals definitely are.

thanks for answering my questions. others have suggested sheers, but i'm really pulled towards chevron/ikat fabrics. would end panels look terrible?

This design project was for a multi-family model home. All of the apartments come with vertical blinds so we had to work around them. The drapery panels do close however, these were intended to be strictly for looks vs. the functionality of residential drapery panels. If you have verticals and just want to dress them up a bit this is a great obtion otherwise I would use drapery panels with a heavier lining if you would like for them to close. I hope this helps answer your question.

Hi Purdy Designs, yes you certainly had your challenges with this project. I know my heart would sink if I was told I had to work around verticals. The bold print is a nice distraction from them. Thanks for sharing a little of the background information.
