Drapery panel placement

I am finally adding some drapery panels to our blah brown family room.
There are 3 separate windows.

I have seen pics where there are panels between the windows and really like the dramatic affect.

Would panels between the windows (4 total) work here or should I stick with 2 panels on the outside?

Usually what makes the "between the windows" idea work is that the drapery panels are hung floor to ceiling. These are already missing the mark. If you have 8 foot ceilings, you need 96" panels - that will cost you more and may not be available off the shelf. The drapes you're showing us are too shiny for your casual area. Except for the fact that the blue ones have gromets, they are too formal looking. I'd look for a print without shine. Gromets will be ok for your room though, since it is a casual family room.
Try again and post new selections.

Also, does the blue work? I have two different panels up and think the pattern one just dies.

The blue can be used if you repeat the colour throughout the room in accessories such as throw cushions. My preference would be to use 2 panels only.

Deco is right , these are too shiny for a formal area . rather use Linen ones they are Classy and Timeless.

It is hard to tell if those work in your space without a full room photo. I agree they should go from ceiling to floor all on one rod. If you use panels like you have shown....you would have to add a few panels between each window and then comes the problem of covering up the natural light that comes in. I would suggest just side panels at both ends from floor to ceiling on a decorative rod.

Definitely need 96 inch (these can be ordered if you can't find them and maybe will cost $10 or so more per panel), warm casual material. Hang high and wide (so they barely cover the outside trim).

I am attaching a picture of the full room.
This room faces the east so the only natural light we ever get is early morning.

As far as the shine on the blue panels, the flash on the camera had alot to do with that; they do not appear shiney at all in person.

Now that there is a pic of the full room, is the concensus still to go floor to ceiling?
And still only panels on the outside windows?

Seeing the whole room, hands down DEFINITELY go floor to ceiling. Mount a full rod at the very top of the wall and I would do only 2 panels... 3 are too busy. Mount a rod wider then your windows too, so that your curtains, when open, will fall more on the wall then cover the windows.

That awkward built-in will make the room seem unbalanced no matter how you hang the drapes I fear. However - to the ceiling is my vote.
