other forums

This is a little off topic, but I was curious.

What other forums on Garden Web do you enjoy going to? And favorites? Are you a regular? lurker? or do you just go there to get questions answered or answer questions?

I see many of the Cottage Gardeners over at the Perennial forum. Some of you really get around! I know I have seen gardengal at four other forums at least.

I have to say Cottage Garden is my favorite. I come here several times a day if I am able to. It is a happy place!

I am also a regular at the Readers Paradise forum (I think rosefolly first mentioned it to me). I love reading as much as I love gardening. There are some great discussions over there from time to time.

I also stop by the Perennial Forum once and awhile. I was given a lot of help there when I first came on, so like to give some assistance to other newbie gardeners.

I drop by the Rose forums when I have problems. I tell you, the people over there are really experts at it! Very knowlegeable.

I have also dropped by the Tomato forum lately to see whats going on. My interest in growing differnt kind of tomatoes started last year when I tasted my first SunGold... I want to try some unusual ones. I may do some trading there one day.

How about you? Any other favorite haunting places on GW?

I try to go every day to Bird watching Forum, Cottage Garden, Perennial and Winter Sowing. I find Winter Sowing
the most active and it's been the center of my interest
since I discovered the process a year ago. I feel as if
I'm not completely honest as a cottage gardener. Our front yard could be regarded with its white fence, but
we're more a field and forest place. I like the activity
on Cottage garden and the friendly acceptance. I also
hit Hillside Gardening, Ornamental Grasses very occasionally but the activity level seems low.

Winter Sowing is favorite for 3 seasons of the year.
Cottage Gardening, Perennials, Annuals are year round favorites just to talk about GARDENING!
I don't do specific forums because I'm not 'into' certain species of plants, so I only go to specific forums if I have a question on something.
I have a daylily bed and an iris bed, and if I go in those rooms it's at my own risk cuz one can SO easily get sucked back in...it's addicting.
Soil & Compost forum is good for a few laughs some days, but now that I 'get' the idea, I don't hang out in there as much as I used to.
That's about it, other than the occasional trade. I don't hang out in the RRobin forum as much anymore; my interests lie elsewhere at the moment.

Where is the Reader's Paradise forum?

I browse around a bit depending on how much time I have. I frequent the Soil, Compost, and Mulch forum the most as I'm trying to learn all I can about improving our soil. Can't grow good plants in poor soil. Lots of very knowledgeable people there.

I like several other forums - Cottage Garden, T2T, Garden Junk, Christmas & Holiday, Home Decorating, Frugal Gardening, Herbs, Herbalism, Far North, Gardening in Canada. Usually pop in quickly to several a day but mostly lurk in many.

I belong to other MB's as well so click around pretty fast otherwise I get nothing done in my house. :-)

ajpa, here's the link to the forum you asked about.

Here is a link that might be useful: Reader's Paradise

-ajapa, are you a reader? Do come by the Readers Paradise for a book chat. It isn't as lively a forum as this, but we do have some great talks. We are having a group discussion of Brideshead Revisited on April 1st in case you are interested.

Perennials and my local upstate NY. Sometimes I lurk on Trees, occasionally check up on Potager and Garden Junk. I'm here most often.

Every day I read Winter Sowing, Texas and Cottage Gardening. Check perennials and annuals sometimes too. Winter Sowing is very active, but I love the photos and ideas on Cottage Gardening. The Texas forum is helpful in getting advice about the rotten climate, bugs, etc. here in the great state of Texas-motto: hot, flat and ugly. But we're friendly!

Lots of them are just too slow moving for me. I do check perennials, garden junk, wintersowing, cutting garden and potager occassionally. In the winter I'm a little more interested in decorating so go over there some mostly to lurk.

Herbs, Herbalism, Upstate NY, Edible, Woodlands.

Christin, yes, I'm a total bookworm!
I haven't read Brideshead Revisited but this will give me an excuse to read it and watch the movie. :)

    WinterSow
    Carolina Gardening
    Cottage Garden
    Garden Junk
    Perennial
    Annuals
    Trash to Treasure
    Christmas and Holiday Decorating
    Decorating and Crafts
Manufactured Housing (about once a month to catch up)

lol - looking at that list it is a wonder I get anything done :D - the first 3 are everyday visits - the rest I will hit at least once or twice during the week. I am at the Christmas and Holiday Forum daily from Sept through Christmas. These forums are like my magazines - love the eyecandy pictures and each thread is like an article. There is just so much knowledge at my fingertips .....

Sometimes I lurk at Butterfly, Greenhouse, Annuals, and Bulbs, and rarely comment.

When MC is doing butterfly counts in season, I sometimes post mine on Butterfly Forum. They talk a lot about raising caterpillars indoors. I just offer hosts and nectar, outside.

Greenhouse has the same discussions over and over about how to heat without electricity or gas, or why a greenhouse gets so hot, or whether you need heat in the south in winter. The most common question in Bulbs is what to do with bulbs that were not planted timely. Sigh.

Cottage is where it's at for me but I also frequent the Perennial and Name that Plant forums. Being a plant collector I find myself wandering over to the Hoya, Dayliy, Begonia and a few others that hold an interest for me. I found a variety of cherry tomato we'd been looking for by posting on the Tomato forum. Had to order it from Tennessee but it's now sprouting and will soon be growing in the greenhouse.

I frequent the Texas forum, and lurk in the Garden Junk forum and the Soil forum. Occasionally, I'll check the Frugal Gardening forum, but it's pretty slow there.

New to forums altogether, I'm mostly a lurker. I've posted a couple of questions on the Cutting Garden forum (I'm trying to get my act together and take the kiddos back to the farmer's market this summer and let them sell flowers again) and gotten some great information. I LOVE the Cottage Gardens forum! I think I'm addicted!! You are all so generous with pictures and information! CMK is absolutely correct, this is a happy place! Thank you all!

-blueberryhills, glad you have come out from lurking! I hope you will share some of your own pics with us soon!

I spend way to much cruising the forums! I visit Antique Roses, Bean, Pea, and Legume, Daylily, Winter Sowing, Tomato, Vegetable, Perennial, Seed Exchange, Plant Exchange(during growing season,)Upstate NY, and I'm probably forgetting a few.
I do check the Seed Saving Forum often. It is not the type of forum people hang out at so questions used to go unanswered for a long time. I go there to answer the questions when I can.

Lately, I check the Cottage and Landscape Design on a pretty regular basis. I also visit the Composting forum fairly often, depending on my mood. The other forums I mainly check out for reference material but don't really hang out there.

I am on the Ozarks Forum at lot....my part of the world, this one (of course), Cooking, Greenhouse (I agree with Nell, not much about actually using it, but building and heating and insulating), Junk, Frugal Gardening, Perennials, Daylilies (mostly lurk there I do not spend $100 on new varieties!), roses, and the list goes on..........then there are the blogs. Lordy, I do spend too much time on the internet...that will soon slow down. I do get up around 3:30AM so I can get lots of my internet fix before the sun comes up!

I check out Carolina Gardening, Perennials and a few others once or twice a week. Since I blog so much and read so many other blogs, I already spend too much time playing! :-) Since I'm also a travel writer now, I do a lot of research on the web and read a lot of tourism/travel forums and blogs -- a lot to keep up with and still garden and such.
