Reminder....

I just wanted to remind everyone that there is an exclusive seed and plant exchange page here on the Cottage Garden Forum. It's at the top right next to Gallery, Conversation etc.

In 2008 there were only two posts made to the exchange page which is pretty sad. If we don't use it we will likely loose it.

I know we all have a load of seeds that we can't use, I know I do! And from the volume of participants in the past seed swaps I know you all like trying new stuff out too! If you don't need anything in exchange you could offer to pass them on for a SASE (self addressed stamped envelope). If there is something you have been hankering for by all means let it be known. The exchange is a very easy and thrifty way to get seeds and plants for next to nothing.

You can also make up a list of all that you have and all that you want, on your personal page and direct folks to it on the exchange page.

So get busy and trade away!! One man's trash, IS another man's treasure.

That is a great reminder, especially with the economy the way it is now. Plus it's sharing with fellow gardeners.

Those of you that can should use the exchange, it would be a real shame to lose it. Unfortunately we in Canada can't participate, it's that darn border thing :o(.

Annette - I must say, I was able to trade with a US member this winter. We were probably tempting fate, though!!

I wish I had more to trade at this point. There are still seeds I wish I had, but I've either planted or traded all mine away. There is always next year.

I recieved seeds today from a special someone in Nova Scotia. I sowed them before I got in the house. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Those of you outside the US should post what you have or want anyway. There are probably as many lurkers as there are participating members and you never know who is out there that will want to strike up a deal with you.

Token, Get your list out there even if it's just your wish list. If I have any of those things I would gladly send them your way for a SASE! I'm betting lots of other Cottagers would too.

That's what I'm talking about. Some traders feel that there are hard and fast rules you HAVE to follow about trading, sharing, seeking and that's fine if it that's how you want to play. But I'm saying, IT'S NOT SO!! Get in a new groove, have fun, make your own rules and then we can all try new to us stuff! Just like the seed exchange provided for everyone here in past autumns. (I never got my act together enough to participate in it but I'd sure like to give another big Thank You to Tracy for doing it over and over! I got such a kick out of watching all of you discover what your new seedlings were)

Edna, I have some of those special seeds from that special special someone as well. They are going in next! I also have some very cool seeds from a very special someone in OH coming! I can hardly wait to get them!!

I don't have any plants but I have lots of seeds.

    Thank YOU MeMo!

I was beginning to wonder if anyone else was going to trade on there! There has been some fast and furious off forum trading going on, but there are probably many who feel a bit timid to be so bold as the rest of us, but who WOULD like to get into it if they saw those same seeds and plants listed in the Exchange!
This is a good time to get some lists together as it isn't a good time of the month to plant anyway (Last Quarter - New Moon).
So let's do it! I'm hip!

Proudgm 03, A very impressive list of seeds, I might add! Thanks for starting us off!! I think I have a couple things you want but give me a few days to put a list together. I've got ten other things started at the moment.

Memo, thanks. But I have already sown more than 200 containers of seeds this winter. Most have germinated already and some are begging to be planted out. I want to clean my seed box out completely. There will be no leftover seeds this year. Things that I didn't want or couldn't use were included in the swap I hosted. Like I said, there will be others next year. I am done collecting seeds til August.
