'Golden Elder'

I want to know if the berries on this elderberry are edible. It bears dark red fruit clusters, which from a distance look black. Unlike the blue elderberries, it has no large seeds in the fruit. The leaves are smaller, with five leaves on each stem. The bush was labeled "golden elder" with no latin name.
