D. rhombifolia aka "princess persimmon". Is highly prized bonsai tree in japan. You will need a male and a female tree. You'll need to wait 7 years for them to flower before you can tell. The seedling vary in hardiness. I planted root cutting in zone 6 and they grew the next year.
They may not be hardy enough for zone 5. They are grown successfully in zone 7/8 no report on hardiness beyond that.
Fruit size is 1"- 1.5". The shrub doesn't have a singl trunk usually... it sends suckers. Therefore propagation is usually from root cuttings.
