I can hopefully get some off my tree this season - it started blooming last year. I haven't checked to see how this year's buds have survived the winter yet. If it does bloom, how do I collect the pollen - small paper bag around the flower and tap, or what?

Barb that would be great! I've never collected pollen from a cornus but I know the paper bag & tap method works. Let me know if I can send you a clematis brachyura-I was this at the Montreal Botanical gardens last year- small flowered white with a very nice scent. I will send you a sase for the pollen when you let me know. Thanks in advance. greg

The Chinese flowering dogwood is blooming now - not much though, maybe last summer was a bit too cold and wet for good bloom production. Anyway, I'm going to try to collect what pollen I can, though I don't really know when the best time to do this is. If you have any tips on this, send me an email!
