Lotus are picky about there water temps, and there leaves! always cut them above the water line because they will drown if water get into the hollow stem. They are heavy feeders, Do not bury the tuber! it should be lain on top and pressed into the mud just a little, I set a small stone on them to keep them in place while they get there roots down. Use regular garden dirt, not potting soil or aquatic soil just good old dirt. I hope this helps some. I do not have any tubers just some seeds. These are the mistakes most people make with lotus, myself included.

the first time i used aquatic soil and buried the tuber. the second time i used garden soil and buried the tuber about an inch, it did grow a few leaves but it must have rotted. this time i'll try not burying the tuber. thanks for the advice
