Photobucket Changed Again

I am rarely a fan of change, but I really am not fond of this one. It appears geared toward the Facebook uses, and I think it is less user friendly. You can't simply change the size of a picture without going through edit.

I have the paid membership, but I may not keep it.

    I can't do a darn thing on it.......very disappointing.\

I don't care for the changes but I just ignore all the references to Facebook. I don't do Facebook. I am too oldfashioned. No Facebook. No Tweets. Anyway, I just use photobucket so I can post my pictures here.

I don't care for the changes either, more problems then improvements.

I'm not sure if your screen shows like mine does (I'm not a pro customer), but when you click on UPLOAD PHOTOS AND VIDEOS, you should see just below where they list all the networking sites, ie Facebook,Myspace, etc, "Customize your upload options". Click on "Customize your upload options" and a screen pops up where you can select what size you want ALL your photos your uploading resized to.

    See if that helps.

I'm having issues with the single photo Uploader which I've contacted them to see if they can figure out the problem.

    Good luck.

Julia- Everyone is having problems with the uploader. Try switching to bulk uploads. Works every time and fast too.

I got a response back from Photobucket support. I had to upgrade to Firefox 4.0 in order to get the uploader(not the bulk one) to work the right way.
I mostly use the bulk uploader when uploading alot of photos at once but when I want to just upload 1 or 2 photos I use the other regular uploader. Good thing I contacted them.
    Problem solved. Yay!!

My issue is that I can no longer click on a photo I want to see after it is uploaded. that makes it about 5% as useful as it was before to me.. I have no issues at all in uploading to photobucket...my issue is using the site to send my photos on. Instead of a simple resize, one must go through the more elaborate editing function.

Also, I have often used photobucket to show a photo or two to co-workers. Not now.

I'm not sure this will work for you but have you thought instead of sending photos, just send them the link to the photo(s)or album you want them to view via the Photobucket Share option?
You can also just allow 1 or 2 photos to be viewable.

    Just a thought...

Ooops, just notice your first line about not being able to click on the photo after it is uploaded.
If you can't click on a photo AFTER it is uploaded then it is something odd going on that you need to contact Photobucket about. Once my photo(s) upload, I can click on them, resize,
Share, etc without going through edit.
I don't think it is a Photobucket issue but may be a browser issue on your end.
Contact Photobucket and I hope it works out for you.

SO, photobucket is the ONLY way to post pictures???
phewww. Now I've got to learn how do to that. What a bother.

No...I think there are other ways. Don't ask me what they are....LOL but I saw someone use Flicker (something like Photobucket, I think).

RE: previous comments - I wasn't that familiar with it to begin but do remember it being much easier. And maybe I'm doing something wrong, but when I uploaded pics from my cell and then resized them, I couldn't change it back to original size. Guess that's why it asks "Are you SURE you want to resize."

Finally figured out that I could just resend the phone pic and start over, but what a pain.

And I'm like Newyorkrita. No Facebook. No Twitter. Not so much old-fashioned as I just don't like all my info out there for hackers to access.

BTW - I only know one way to 'embed' a pic from there directly into my post, which is using the direct like code but then having to change the beginning and end of it manually, deleting a few letters and then adding some letters and symbols (can't type them here, they must be code and wouldn't show up) Is this how you guys do it? Seems tedious.

I don't have any problem at Photobucket. First, I just put my cursor over the picture I want, and the codes pop up below it. I just drag and copy the html code and put it in the body of my message. If it moves (on its own) to the larger picture of the flower, when you click on the HTML code below, it automatically copies it, no need to copy then - just paste into your message. I don't have to type anything in. Hope this helps!

Nancy- The way you described is what I do, no problems doing that and it is the way I have always posted pictures.

They are resized as they are uploaded to photobucket and after that I don't do anything to it as I have already added them to the albumn that I want.

Don't mean to be a dummy, but which html code? There's three choices below my pic: Email/IM, Direct Link, & IMG Code.

With Email/IM & IMG codes, either one pasted in msg just show up as code (no pic) when I preview. And direct link is what you paste into the "Optional Link URL" block, right?

So not sure what you are talking about? HELP !!! LOL

Photobucket uses the third code down. Copy the HTML code. Then paste it directly into the body of the message. After you hit preview your picture should show up.

If you click on the small picture of your flower, a larger one will come up. Below the picture it is listed:

    HTML CODE

THAT IS THE ONE YOU NEED TO CLICK ON. The code space will then turn yellow and say "copied." It is already in your clipboard then, and all you have to do is paste that link into the body of your message.

There is also a drop-down menu below when you place your cursor over your small picture. It is the third link down, which states HTML code. Drag your cursor on that code, right click and select copy then paste it into your body message. Don't try putting it in the "Optional Link URL" below the message. Hope this helps!

I do need to figure out how to shrink the pictures as they now load up on here larger than before.

    Lisa,

First, I select only the part of the picture I want to display and copy and paste the selection into a new photo. Then I reduce the size of my pictures before I upload them to Photobucket. If you don't have Adobe Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro or the free Paint.NET, you can always shrink copies of your pictures with MS Paint in Windows. It might take some calculations - you can reduce the size by clicking on Image, and then either by changing the Attributes or the percentage in Stretch/Skew. I usually reduce my pics down to about 2.3 inches. There may be an easier way to reduce them at Photobucket, but I don't know how to do that.

Well....I know this sounds crazy, but I swear I don't have an HTML code option. Like I listed in prior post, I have THOSE 3 options only. None of them say HTML.

Maybe I have a different version or something. I hadn't used PB since last year and really only use it to post on here.

But just this month, I uploaded pics from my new smartphone and phone said I needed to upgrade PB (actually, it was probably PB telling me that via cell, but I mean I got msg. saying I needed to upgrade).

    So anywhooo....

There IS an HTML code on side of big pic, but it is to share entire album.

And before I sent prior post, I tried all 3 codes that show up below my pic (I know what y'all are talking about...it turns yellow and says "copied" and then you paste) but when I hit 'preview msg' - only code showed up.

Thing is...I don't think cell thingy really has anything to do with it since the code I DO use was shared with me last year, prior to getting this "upgrade your PB app" msg on my phone. I've always had to do it the way I do it.

    So now I'm stumped !!!???

And not to get all code crazy on y'all, but maybe this will help? Here's what I do:

First off...do y'all get an "IMG code" option? It's my 3rd option. Well, I copy that, then at beginning of that I remove the [IMG].

Now I'm going to have to spell out what I replace it with because when I actually typed it and did preview, what I typed showed up as one of those little boxes with the red X in it. So website must be reading what I typed code AS a code for a pic it can't find...HUH???

Anyway, I replace the [IMG] with a "greater than" sign, img, space, src, equal sign, quotation mark. Then leave rest of code and at end, remove [IMG], and replace with quotation mark, "less than" sign. (I don't put quotes around greater than & less than signs, just did that so it would make sense what symbol I used). Have I thoroughly confused y'all?

And this works just fine. But as I'd said, it's tedious.

So now I'm stumped !!!??? Any ideas?

First off, we need to determine if y'all are getting the same 3 code options that I am, which are: Email & IM, Direct Link, and IMG Code. That's all the choices I get.

Duhhhh, I'm corn-fused.... But thanks for working with me on this :)

Oh dear, then you really do have a problem. It is not possible to use any of those other three links. I'd contact Photobucket, if that is possible. I went there and copied the code from each of the four choices into Word, thinking I could be of help, and the HTML code doesn't look anything like the other three. It is much longer and more complex. You have to have that code to upload your pictures.

You could try setting up a new Photobucket account with a different name. That might work???? Something is very wrong if you cannot see the HTML code. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Thanks so much Nancy. I failed to mention mine is free whereas first post mentions paid membership. Maybe that's the diff?

Not gonna worry about it. Like I said, I CAN post pics in msg by "editing" the IMG code and even tho I keep saying it's tedious, I've gotten so used to it I'm pretty fast now...LOL

But really, thanks for all the effort in trying to solve my problem.

Today, it is working perfectly again! I am delighted because I use it so much. Thank you all for the input. I am assuming some of the update work may have had a little glich that is now straightened out.

I don't have a paid membership. I thought it was free!

Kay, I'm glad yours is working for you now. That's so frustrating. I had problems several years ago, and just started a new account.
