We Finally Did It!!!

Hi Everybody!

Sorry it's been so long since I posted last. It's been really crazy around here for the last few months. I've done my best to read all the posts and keep up with everybody's news (congrats to the moms and grandma's to be!) but I haven't had the time to actually sit down and post anything myself. That and the fact that everything was just a big long waiting game with the house and trying to decide for sure where we actually wanted to move to.

To be honest, I've been talking about it for so long that it was kind of embarassing to keep posting when I had nothing to show for it. You guys were great and supportive in every way, but I didn't want you to think that I was talking out of my you-know-what, lol.

Ok, this is already getting long and I don't want to put anybody to sleep with my babbling, so I'll try and get to the point. WE SOLD THE HOUSE!!! WE SOLD THE HOUSE!!!! WE SOLD THE HOUSE!!! Did I mention that I was ecstatic?? LOL

We listed in November privately and that got us absolutely nowhere, so at the beginning of February we listed with a realtor. She was wonderful and got the job done fairly quickly. The real estate market here is pretty terrible and she worked very hard and got us a great offer that we were more than happy to accept. If anyone in the Thunder Bay area needs a realtor, I would be more than happy to give you her name and contact info.

The deal was finalized yesterday just in time for my birthday! I'd have to say that my favourite present this year was watching her put the "SOLD" sign out front. Ahhhhh, no more open houses, no more showings, no more having to keep the house so clean that it didn't look like we even lived here anymore, lol. What a relief:)

The other big news is that after talking about it endlessly, researching each city that we were considering, and weighing the pros and cons of each place, we ended up back at our original idea !Barrie! ZONE 5 gardening here I come!!!! It's not the reason we ended up choosing Barrie, but it certainly didn't hurt, lol.

We've been kind of in limbo until the house was officially sold and now it's a mad rush to pack, find jobs, find a place to stay, cancel utilities, etc, etc, etc. Oh, did I mention that our closing date is May 15th???? Good Lord, I hope we can pull this all off and get everything lined up in time. I'll keep you all posted and let you know if I manage to keep my sanity intact:^) Wish me luck, lol!!!

Take care,

Cindy

    Yes, congratulations Cindy!

If you move May 15 you should be able to take divisions of perennials along with you. Were you planning on doing so?

Have you a house in Barrie? (BTW, my great uncle and his family are from Barrie. Uncle Bill started Steingard Photography back in the 60's. He does wonderful pictures!)

OMG Cindy that is so wonderful! What a relief to sell your house so fast. Don't be a stranger just because you are a warm zone snob now ;0) (just kidding!) You have to tell us about all the things you can grow. I would buy all the David Austin roses. Aaah. And HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Yeah, Gil, i was going to turn up my nose and say that she couldn't post here anymore! LOL (Mostly because we're all jealous!)

So, congratulations, Cindy! I've been wondering what was going on with you and it's nice to hear that things are falling into place. Just too bad that we won't have you close to us anymore. :( It's tough being the only one from NWO who posts here (sniffle, snifffle, whine)! LOL

Seriously, wishing you the best of luck, and yes, do keep us posted.

Wonderful news Cindy, and what more could you ask for as a birthday gift! Now you'll have different stresses to deal with, but these are the good kind. When you get a chance, let us know all about your new place.

Zone 5 eh? Does this mean you'll be changing your GW name??? :)

Good news, Cindy. Just take a deep breath and it'll all work out just fine. How exciting! I loved moving - new places & faces and things to see and do. And a SPRING move - even better! There will no doubt be all kinds of trees in bloom and tulips and daffs everywhere you look. Ahhh, lucky you!

Hi! Thought I'd pop in and give everyone a quick update. We just got back from spending a couple of days in Barrie. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!!! What a beautiful city, the waterfront is stunning, lots of parks and greenspace and beautiful landscaping everywhere. The city of Barrie is also surrounded by farmland, lakes and smaller rural towns so going camping, fishing or just for a picnic is only 10 minutes away. There's so much to do and explore that it just boggles the mind!

I won't be spending too much time on the computer as we only have a month until our closing date and we have a ridiculous amount of things to do before we go. I'm so excited, I can't wait to move there but I'm not looking forward to all the packing and other yucky necessities that have to be done first.

DH had a few job interviews while we were down there. They went really well and now we just have to wait and see what happens. Once he secures work I think we're going to end up renting something short-term until we get a better feel of the different areas. That way we can decide where we want to live and take our time choosing a house.

The trees were just starting to get a hint of green to them and only very early bulbs were poking their heads out. It's still fairly cool there and it actually snowed a bit while we were there. Once everyting is starting to bloom, I'll have to take some pics and post them for you guys to see.

Ok, off to bed now to dream of roses and wisteria and Japanese maples and cherry trees....and....and..... Oh Lord it's going to be hard waiting until I have my own garden again, lol.

    Good night,
    Cindy
