The timing is great for getting off work now. I'm sure being able to play in the garden will be very therapeutic for your mind(maybe not your back though!lol). Hopefully the surgery will be well timed for you too. And hey, you'll have lots of time to hang out here too! Start taking lots of pictures.....I want to see all of your flowers!;^)

Thanks everyone. It was a long winter for me so, I guess I'm due for some R&R. It has been stressing as well. At first the doctors were concerned about Leukemia. Then after a CT they found this cyst and a spot on my liver. This meant more tests. But my liver is functioning fine. They'll just have to keep an eye on it to see if there is any changes.
I am thinking surgery will be in June. Although taking off work might speed things up a bit. Time will tell.

Glad to hear they found out what was wrong. It's always so frustrating not knowing what the problem is. Enjoy your gardening while you can, and don't over do it. :)

You'll feel much better once that thing is gone. Leaking cysts make you feel absolutely terrible - been there, done that, just with a fluid filled one, but I already felt better when I woke up afterwards. Good luck, take care of yourself.

Today I got a date for surgery, June 5th. The surgeon is actually doing it in a different hospital than he usually works in just to get me in sooner. Good thing because I am finding it difficult even to sit for more than 5 min at a time. The countdown is on. I'll be glad when it is over.

It's always a relief to get the actual date, isn't it? 3 1/2 weeks, at this time of year, will pass in an instant. And I agree - you should feel much better as soon as you wake up. Best wishes and a speedy recovery.

Are you enjoying your time at home? Glad to hear that the surgery date is fairly soon.

Just got word that my aunt had her surgery yesterday. She also had a cyst on one of her ovaries. The surgeon said that it was the size of the round part of a football. Wow. Also that it came out all in one piece, was not enroaching on anything and was benign. No wonder she wasn't feeling good!

Hope your surgery goes as well as hers did.

PS. did you get all your lilies and irises in from your orders?

I seen my specialist today again. He put me back on antibiotics.(After strict orders last time not to use anymore.) He thinks my body is going into toxic shock or possibly something uglier like the C word. Not good news. But to me, it is just a rupture. It is better to think that and not stress.

And he told me my incision will not be the usual bikini style. It will run up and down. So this means 12 weeks off work instead of 8.Good news.

So no, I haven't gotten all of my lilies and irises in. I've been feeling kind of icky. But I finally finished digging up my bed and have all of my oriental and crosses in. Plus I moved 6 roses around. Everything is all potted up so it isn't absolutely necessary to push myself. I might as well enjoy doing it.
If all goes the same, my antibiotics should kick in by early next week and then I can get more in. I'll puts as I feel.

I hope everything goes well for you Shelley. It sounds like a few of us are having surgery this year. I see my specialist on June 20 and I'll probably have surgery a couple of months after. I'm just guessing but I'll probably have pain mapping and another lap. Maybe we should start another thread on how to garden while having temporary disability here. Or how to get back as fast as possible to the garden afterwards. :)

Just keep us updated and don't forget, we're all pulling for you.

When my doc and I were trying to figure out a date for my hyst back in 2004, she asked me what about June, I said no way, who will look after my garden, she looked at me kind of weird but didnÂt question my response, so she delayed the surgery date to November.

Sharon, I would have loved that option. But I have kids that can help me out with the watering. My biggest issue is going to be getting it all in the ground. I didn't think it would be a problem, but I'm starting to wonder. And the weather isn't co-operating. It is 3 pm and only +2.

Glad to hear you have a date for surgery. Once you know when it will (hopefully) all end it goes by really fast. Just remember not to over do it.

Oh, and while you are recovering for the first few weeks, here is a little tip. NO comedy movies! You'll end up laughing and be in lots of pain. Just tear jerkers or mystery. You'll thank me. :)

So I'm back and all went well with the surgery.I came home yesterday.
My specialist examined me after they put me under and decided that he could do a bikini cut. That was good news to find out when I woke up. And by the looks of it he figured "this thing" as he called it, was benign and didn't look to be ruptured.(More good news) But he wasn't sure exactly what it was. It doesn't matter. It is gone.
I'm feeling remarkably well. The incision feels nonexistent when I sit.
My DH has had the opportunity to take a couple weeks off and be at home to help me out. Which is great.

So now it's your turn Syretta. Good luck with your appointment on the 20th. I hope they can get you in fast after that.
