OMG that is horrible Shelley! I would be so upset if someone was lurking/stealing in my yard, it's the worst feeling.

Not to make light of it, but I also had theft in my yard this afternoon. Missie (one of the puppies) got through the fence and ate all my strawberries. She was pretty pleased with herself.

That is horrible Shelley! Maybe a big German Shepard would have them think twice about entering your yard again. I know I'd be VERY PO'd if my stuff went missing too. I guess that's one advantage of living off the beaten path here, not many see our yard from the road. I don't know if our dog, who's really friendly, would do too much, but in the middle of the night with strangers, who knows? Hopefully she'd get a bite or two in, right where it counts!lol

Gillian, our dog is more of a raspberry lady......she hasn't been in the strawberry patch yet, thankfully. But she has snuck an almost ripe cantaloupe out of the garden and chewed it to bits. Of course, that happened to be the one and only cantaloupe that year....grrrrrr!

That's really aweful Shelley. A big dog sure would help!

I was freaked out on Sunday when someone literally stood infront of my house and took a picture of my house/yard while I was sitting in the livingroom and looking right at her! Yeah, I hate that feeling of invasion of privacy for sure, but in your case Shelley I understand it's much worse for you!

Hmmm.... wonder if you could do a motion sensored barking dog sound! (I actually think I've seen that somewhere...) In the dark who would know if its a real dog or not? Just plotting and planning for those with allergies like we have at our house! 8^)

Ang, one time a real estate agent took a picture of my house and yard and attached it to an advertisement (we have buyers in your area, blah blah) and left it in the mailbox. I had not solicited any such thing. Maybe someone's doing that to you? Anyway it was a really nice picture so I threw out the card and kept the picture.

That's terrible Shelley!! Ya know...DH said there was a lady in Nipawin, when he was growing up, who used to load her shotgun with rock salt for the kids who used to raid her garden...perhaps... ;o)

(Bad DH and friends...DH says he was glad he was always the fastest in the group (and now he feels bad for being such a "rotten little bugger")...he had a couple of friends who couldn't sit down for days)

That's terrible news. People can't even enjoy nice things in their yards without having to worry about them being taken. Hopefully there is such a thing as karma and what goes around comes around to the thieves.

Cute story about the strawberries though, only because I can relate with my Pugsley. In spring, he kept going into the flower beds so I taught him to stay "out of the mud". Suddenly, he's back walking into the flower beds. Then I see him running around with berries in his mouth. First it was the ripe ones, now it's the green ones.

Guess what!!! I've been hit again. Friday I noticed a pot was laying on the ground that was sitting on top of a cherub that holds a basin on top of it's head. This cherub is cement and ridiculously heavy. (Thank Goodness) The pot is way to heavy to be blown off, so I thought good for you suckers. I did a quick check and nothing else was missing.
Today I went to the mail and was told that things were vandalized around town again. So I came home and checked my things again.
Now I am missing a large wooden wishing well and a black statue that my DM gave me for Christmas a couple years ago.
Grrrrrrrrrr. The wishing well was full of dirt and was also quite heavy. More than one person had to have carried that thing out.

Shelley, do you have a picture of the wooden wishing well? It would be worth putting a picture of it in the local paper and see if anyone knows of someone who has a new acquisition in their yard that looks just like yours. How far are you from a larger center? Could someone be coming from the 'city' to the smaller centers (like your hometown) to fill/decorate their yard?

That sucks Shelley! By this time, I think I'd be cementing everything to the ground......man, the nerve of some people!! Hmmmm...I'd be tempted to get some electric fencing going, just for the night hours, and turn it off for the day.

Brenda, I do not think that I have a picture of my wishing well. I do not think that it really matters though. Other peoples things were just smashed.
I'm not even going to go look. It would break my heart.

One of my sons offered to go steal something nice from one of the cities for me. I told him... NOT>

I think the problem in our area is that there are too many bored kids on way too many drugs. To vandalize things is more for the thrill.

I can't wait until all of my trees are large. I think that I should put a hedge at the front of my yard as well.

I'd love to do the electric fence Laurie, but I'm sure there would be some bylaws about that them in town.

On the bright side.........?????????..... I'll have more room in my sheds this winter.
