In the basement I also found the complete original training manual for being a rear gunner in the RCAF from when my Grandpa enlisted for WWII. Also cool!

I would never have known that was a chicken waterer, but thought you might like to know that in one of my previous lives I did a bit of antiquing. Medalta pottery was quite popular. A crock in good condition was bringing $50 - $100 6 or 8 years ago. Great idea to use it as a toad house!

Brenda, I have combed through the manual and it is exhaustive about wireless signaling, war gases, airplane identification and relative speed sighting, but it doesn't appear that they were told in training what kind of plane they would be in. The guns were Vickers G.O. and it seems that the fighters in use at the time were the Hurricane, Liberator and Defiant. But again I don't know. Would ask Grandpa if he was still alive... but he never talked about the war much. He told me once that they prayed they would not get put with a Polish pilot because they were all daredevils. LOL.
