Old thread but I would like to ask if you have the same problem like I do, with currants being attacked and fruit falls off before ripe?

I have had problems with aphids damaging both the Red & Black Currant bush but last year I managed to control them with a spray. It does require constant spraying and is a bit of a pain in the butt. My bushes are not mature enough yet to be bothered by birds or animals

So I have a different pest then, fruits are being attact by flies which lay eggs,..then larva eats the inside. I had two bushes of red currants but could never harvest more then a hand full or so,...have given them a roundup treatment. Have two black currants which I cover up now to get any fruits.
