I have had my unknown pinkish white one bloom already and now "Do Tell" is starting. I think I like the buds almost as much as when its opened:)

My first peony bloomed today! I was disappointed that my double fernleaf did not bloom. I think that frost must have gotten the buds, since they never progressed in size, and are still sitting there - not falling off though.

My Buckeye Belle is the first to bloom for me. I showed a picture of the whole plant because I am impressed on how big it is. This plant was just planted this last fall, from Parkland Perennials.

I am happy with the color, since I am partial to the dark red color! I can't remember who, but last year or the year before, someone from the far north here posted an excellent picture of their Buckeye Belle, and I've wanted one eversince.

Deb, 'Do Tell' is one that I had looked for awhile back, but picked up 'Leto' instead. It should be opening in a day or two, so I'll be able to see the flowers for the first time. I suppose then I'll know whether I should have kept on looking for Do Tell or not!lol I absolutley love that type of flower shape for peonies. Dancing Butterflies does look like it would glow really bright too....very pretty!

Redpeony, Buckeye Belle is one of my favorites....that colour is just so velvety and dark, that it's impossible to capture on film. Mine isn't as big as it was last year though, and I'm wondering if it was because of the harsh winter we had or if it could be due to the ant hill that has popped up about a foot away from it. But here's a pic of mine from yesterday.

Honey Gold is in top form again this year.:)

Also about your fern leaf peony not opening, do you remove the foliage in the fall from your peonies? Because usually when the flower buds form and don't open, that's a sign of botrytis.

My tree peony has only one bud on it this year, and there's just a hint of colour showing, so any day now...

Looking forward to your pic of Leto when it opens. I'm pretty sure I'm going to get Laura Dessert (but Leto & Brides Dream were in the running) Chestine Gowney and possibly White Cap this fall.
I got Do Tell from Parkland in the fall of '06 and I noticed that some of the most recent flowers have more numerous darker stamens than the pics I posted. I like all the types, but seem drawn to this style too.

'Leto' opened it's first flower today, yay!!

I think it's a keeper, and I like it paired with 'Grandis' siberian iris too.

'Coral 'n Gold' also started blooming yesterday.

I had put a few of the Coral 'n Gold blooms in bouquets for the farmer's market this morning, and they sure got a lot of attention, as it's not the typical colour that people think of for peonies to be.

I love them all. This spring was really hard on my peony buds. About half of them are not going to bloom this year. Oh well maybe they will spend more energy getting bigger.

Only one flower bud on my tree peony this year. That is, from above the graft. There's some growth that looks very different with a flower bud on it, so I'm assuming that this came from below the graft and I'll have to trim it off. But here's the one true flower.

Oh my - i need a coral peony....

Only Mollis has bloomed for me so far. Karl Forrester (is that who he is? Karl someone, anyway) and Festiva Maxima are loaded with buds, though - should be quite a show when they open. :)

I quite like Jean Erickson too...do you find she is more a burgundy/purple red, than red Shelley or ??
I was going to order Angel Cheeks last year for my grandaughter. But maybe her & I will sit down at the computer sometime and let her pick out which one she likes, since they have a brand new house/yard that has no landscaping done yet.

I just planted my fernleaf peony last fall along with all my other peonies. I was hoping that the flowerbuds not progressing was maybe due to immaturity or frost, but I was worried about botrytis. These were bare root peonies, so no folliage came along when I bought them. I think I will wait and see what happens next year.
While I was away this weekend my red charm opened up. I prefer the color of Buckeye Belle, but Red Charm is a reddish color! Here she is:

Thanks Shelley for the info...I want a peony in "plum" type shade (if there even is one) but Jean Ericksen is very pretty.
Had to post another bloom of Do Tell...hard to believe it is the same peony, but obviously weather has alot to do with coloration!
I have a real small Pink Cameo that has one bud on it but I'm leaving for a short holiday, so looks like I will miss seeing it.
