Were they the Atlas gloves? I found them to be great except that they don't protect when working around thorns or things that can sliver. And best of all, inexpensive. Then there were the expensive ones that I can't remember the name of that I had the same complaint about (thorns and slivers). I know, keep my leather gloves for that--I just don't remember to switch what I'm wearing.

That sounds familiar, though i think it would be a waste of money for me to buy some. I rarely wear gloves, and even when i should, i'm too lazy to go back to the house to look for them.

I should get myself one of those garden carts and keep it stocked with all the things i MIGHT need while outside - gloves, fertilizers, string, pen, notebook, pruners, trowels, etc. Then the trick would be to remember to wheel the darn cart around behind me!

I should get a cart too. When I look for my gardening tools I use the rake. Why oh why do they make all the darn things GREEN? BTW rust does not compromise the effectiveness of most gardening tools :)

Maybe a better idea would be a big apron with everything attached with idiot strings? :>

Hee hee....My gardening shovel has a bright orange handle...which is very good.....don't lose it very often.

But my favorite Fiskar clippers which are also bright orange handled.....have got lost....my guess is down the hill in the compost filling area. Never to be found again. :-(

Gloves I always wear(several different kinds).....well except when planting planters and smaller plants.....go through several pair a year.....they have a spot right by the door....so I pick them up as I am going out.

I use a wheel barrow for packing around what I might need...not a fancy smancy cart. LOL.

That does sound like the right brand name of gloves. Thanks. I don't wear them much either, except when I'm doing my clearing out. I left a few things in over the winter and I have to take them all out to get my beds ready in the spring.

I don't know how I would manage without my garden cart. It is my absolutely favorite thing that was ever invented. It keeps all of our hand tools, long handle tools, garden bags, gloves, you name it, all season. If we need to use it to haul something, of course, all of that needs to be emptied out. But it is the only thing I get out in the morning and the only thing I have to put away at night.

Because of my knee, I also have one of those rolling seats and I love it, too. I put most of my hand tools into it in the morning and then they stay handy for me. Much easier on the back for certain things, too. And it even holds a cold cooler!

Yes, the gloves are Atlas. I used to go thru gloves like crazy, but the Atlas will last a whole season or more (depending on how close I get with the pruners, LOL - at least I'm not nipping off the tip of my fingers). The Atlas gloves also wash up really well.

Best thing about my pruners is they're red - much easier to spot buried in the compost heap (that's the first place I look).

I use my wheelbarrow to cart everything around. I also have a rubbermaid tote which is also handy - but that usually goes in the wheelbarrow, too. I've looked at those carts from Lee Valley, though - the stand up on wheels kind that holds/stores all the tools, has a spot for a garbage bag, etc and you can wheel it around with you. It looks pretty nifty.

It was you Pudge that got me hooked on Atlas Gloves last year. I too was one of those gardeners who couldn't stand wearing gardening gloves, now I canÂt garden without them ;)

Thanks, everyone. I saw some gloves by another name and I knew that those weren't the ones I wanted. I'll have to keep watching for the Atlas line.

Check Home Hardware, that's where I bought mine.

I actually saw Atlas gloves and other really cool looking ones at a chainsaw/tool store. It is a single store here so giving you the name wouldn't help, but the store here had over 30 different types of gloves. You might want to check out those places as well.

I bought last year at a garden expo a pair of Atlas gloves. Oh man they are wonderful. I paid like $9 for them and then found out that our glove distributor at work sells them for $4..... They are so nice and they are washable.....I've never been a big glove wearer because of the bulky feel but these don't have that and no seams to cause blisters.... I can feel what I'm doing with these gloves. Wore out one pair last summer so bought myself two pair this time.
