How does the floor feel? Concrete seems so cold and hard. How often do you have to re-stain it?

We had our floors stained and love it. It's no colder then ceramic tile. We do have and area area rug in front of the sofa and a runner when you first come into the house. I mop it with mop and glow and it looks really nice. My understanding is that the stain lasts for several years. I wouldn't recommend it if you have toddlers because, yes, it is hard.
