Because y'all would understand....

Yesterday we celebrated the graduation of my youngest from our homeschool high school. That means a ceremony and BIG party...which we planned to hold in our backyard. For the past six weeks, I've worked, weeded, planted and loved on my gardens so they'd look wonderful. I'm known as a gardener and I wanted everything to look lovely.

And it did...through the rain. :0)

We had more than an inch of rain yesterday morning so our party was confined to the house. Crowded, but fun.

But, y'all will understand my wee bit of disappointment that no one got to enjoy all the blossoms except through the windows. Darn. I'm sure there is an excellent lesson in humility in there somewhere.

I do understand. We have no control over Mother Nature. Just enjoy it yourself or have a 'garden party'.

Isn't that always the way it goes, even in the rain I bet your garden looked absolutely lovely and it was enjoyed by all who saw it. In fact I think gardens can look quite lovely in the rain and just after it stops they can look quite magical.

You mean people still didn't go out to see your pretties? I certainly would have. An inch of rain certainly would not scare a PNW native away! I love to be out doing something in the garden while its raining (as long as its not freezing out).
I agree with Annette, gardens always look great after a good rain. Maybe we could see some pics?

Sorry no one got to see your gardens. You can always invite friends for coffee in the garden, lunch for the girls in the garden, or cocktails for a few of your best friends in the garden. And won't they just think you are so on top of everything to do this on 'little notice', and your gardens are all immaculate! You can have a series of smaller get-togethers.

And, while it's weeded, be sure to pull new weeds as they appear, so you don't have that big job before your next party.

Oh, Happy! I feel your pain. It's time to call the girls and have a garden tea party!!! A few years ago I did this and my girlfriends all showed up in lovely dresses for our tea. It was so much fun.
This year I made flavored syrups from flowers and herbs so it will be a cocktail party - so much fun with just us girls! Go for it! Show off your hard work and let your friends enjoy!!

OH hush!! I just spent the last week planting, pulling weeds, trimming trees, cleaning up stuff etc etc etc. All preparation for my Daughters graduation party here next Saturday........I sure hope I have better luck than you!

But the spontanous garden party sounds good too!

Hopefully you picked bouquets of your beautiful flowers to display in the house so people could at least admire them up close ! I am sorry it rained on your party, but congrats to your son on his great accomplishment !!

Aaahhiieee!!! No kidding!! Yes, I say go for the Garden Party - request all to wear a really cool hat, flowers included!!! How fun would that be??? I keep thinking I should to that....have prizes awarded by the least creative/most creative invitees!!! And don't worry about the indoor party - they already had lots to celebrate!!!
