Is there any chance my baby fig tree is going to make it?

We recently bought a new house and I have desparately wanted a fig tree my entire life! I did some research and decided on the Texas Everbearing variety, which I know now is known by many other names. I found one at a local reputable nursery, and planted it in November before it got cold. This winter has been the coldest winter in this area since I've been alive, it got down to 10 degrees last week and we had a "blizzard" several weeks ago. (Now I know for some that is not cold, but for our area that is unheard of.) Thankfully my fig is on the south side of our house, protected from the north wind, and I went out to check on it and it is still bendy. But is there even any hope? I do have mulch around the base of it ... but I dont have my hopes very high ... is there something else I could be doing to protect it better?
