I haven't seen them yet, but I'd say, save your $ and sow pelleted seed as usual.

Tidal Waves are awesome compared to them all, IME.

I've seen those kits the last couple years and they arent any cheaper..some of the ones I've seen are sold by Mackenzie seeds..my experience from last year from just a packet of pink wave petunias was that they were not as superior as the other waves I have bought through Stokes,Veseys etc...the only good thing is I had good germination from them..nothing competes with the tidal waves for growth and bloom..they also make the strongest cuttings to over winter..totally awesome...savona

I saw the kits too.....but I wouldn't buy one. Why pay extra for a little plastic container....I just buy the seed and plant in my Wendy's salad bowls. Have been using the same bowls for a few years....and they are free. LOL!!!
I plant waves every year.

The seed in the biodegradeable mats are pelleted. The reason they are in the mat is to keep the seed from crushing (I called McKenzie Seeds customer service and that is what they told me). For $7.99 at Home Depot I got 10 seeds, 2 soil disks and a plastic kit to start the seeds in and each one germinated - I think that is a pretty good deal.
