I live in Toronto, Ont and I winterized
my fig tree so I think it is OK.

Is your tree protected?
If not, I doubt your tree will make it!

Yeah it's protected but I just put it in the ground last summer.
It was 5 years old when it was in the pot.

If it is well protected, I think it will be OK!
Just curious, how did you protect your tree for winter?

I put mine in the ground in the summer of 2012 (early July).
It was more than 5 years old and was indoored until it was
planted in the ground.

All I did was made a cylinder out of hard plastic thats 1/8 thick than I rapped it with bubble wrap like tarp the ones they use to keep the cement warm when it's cold out and a thick piece of plywood on top. I didn't want to completely wrap it because of sweating when the sun is on it on warmer days. and I made sure to put dirt around the bottom around 6 inches high to keep mice out.

I think it's gonna be a long cold winter and the temp is gonna hang around for another week at least :(

Do you bury the tree in the ground sideways?

No I don't bury them but maybe the next couple I am gonna plant them on an angle to bury them easier for winter protection.
