Black Mission

Raintree nursery now is selling Black Mission. Just wondering if it is worth growing here in the northeast.I bought a Black Mission about ten years ago from a local nursery.Succesfully winter protected it for six years and it grew very well but never produced one fig.I probably got a fake. But if this one Raintree is selling is the REAL MISSION I am wondering if the summers are long and hot enough to produce and ripen fruits.

Stay Well,

Anthony

I have 2 Black Mission type figs that came from Malta via George Michalev.
I think one is Named Unknown#1,and the other,is Unknown #5.
Both have very good flavor,Identical with dry mission figs coming from California.
At least one is the real thing.in my Opinion.
The second is much larger in size, and just as good, but has a small tendency to crack, when raining, while getting ripe.
Both this figs produced a couple of fruits the second year allready, and they are very tasty. They are very small to take cuttings but,George might have some if you ask.
I highelly recomend them both.
