Last year I think some of my containers saw -30 a few nights! I don't think -15 will hurt any of the hardy stuff, but I would wait to put out any of the more tender annuals.
I haven't done any ws yet this year. I'm waiting until the days are above -10, brrrrr.......

For sure, Tiffy, you can set out containers now. We've probably all done it in those kinds of temperatures or worse. I did some last weekend, and the night temperatures have been around -20°C all week. No problem! Thing is, for you, it will warm up a lot faster than for us! :)

In Sudbury we've just been hit by few pretty big winter storms, and while most people are complaining about it I enjoy it only for the fact that it is perfect for WS. I made up a bunch of containers and set them out and watched as the snow buried them. I love it!! I tend to forget what I've planted so it's always a suprise when spring sets in.Kind of like a belated Christmas gift!I've had success with most containers I put out,as long as they get buried first(the snow insulates them until it warms up). I was really impressed with the beautiful tomatoes I had last year. The cherry tomatoes produced so much that the stock actually split in half from the weight of all the tomatoes.Enjoy and good luck to all!

I'm well underway after everyone's 'OK'. Did some containers today and set them out. The ones I do tonight will go in the basement where its cool, and then out in the morning. I shudder at those little things going from +20C to -20C all in one shot. This will give then a bit of time at 5C (in the basement).

Gardengirlcs, No snow here this winter. We've had only one storm to speak of, and all of it's snow melted two days later. Let's put it this way - there should not be 4 cords of wood left sitting in the backyard at this time of year!! LOL!! Very freaky!

But it's 'burn, baby, burn' this weekend!

We've had more than our fair share of snow! The banks are so high that pulling out to the middle of an intersection just to see whats coming isn't uncommon now,not to mention that most side streets are now down to single lane.As far as WS containers can't even remember where they are buried now.Can't remeber the last time we had this much snow....kids are loving it though.Hopefully spring will make it's arrival here soon.

Hi gardengirlcs: So you're from Sudbury and so am I (on Victoria Street). I've started a bit of winter sowing (i.e., phlox, perennial sweetpeas, and Goldquelle). When I can find the rest of my seeds, I'll do some more. They just started cleaning our street. There's so much snow that you almost feel that we won't see our backyard till August. When the time is right, I'm thinking of boiling lots of water and just pouring it on the snow. LOL. Anywyas, it's nice to have someone else in the Sudbury area.
