How about Parthenocissus quinquefolia - Virginia Creeper, although a prolific climber, it can be pruned hard to keep it in control. Foliage turns a gorgeous scarlet colour in Autumn.

Yeah I like Virginia Creeper too. You might also look at Vitis riparia, River Grape. Some people think it's sort of a weed but I think it's nice. It has insignificant flowers that won't attract a lot of bugs. You didn't mention the sun exposure on this deck... I assume it's going to be getting at least part sun.

There's lots of sun exposure. The deck has a south and west exposure. These vines are not too intrusive? I don't mind pruning, but I don't want them spreading across my acreage! Thanks for your help help:)

Hmmm? In most areas Virgina creeper is infested with leaf hoppers. They are prolific most places and can't be gotten rid of. Not my choice next to a deck.

One of the most rapid and full growing vines is clematis vitalba...native to the UK. It has tiny white flowers but they don't have time to bloom in zone 2. We have two that grow rapidly in the front of our house. Not our favorites because of lack of blooms but, like hops, a quick and full cover of greenery.
