I don't believe I've grown them before, and don't have them in my list, but I did start some from seed in 2005. It will be interesting to see how they winter.

Yeah, I was just looking at the Bluestem lists last night, and regretting that some of the choice things were only available as bunches of 25 plugs! Dang!
Bluestem used to sell plugs individually (or at least in small groups - I remember getting three plugs of certain things), but no more, I guess. It's a little more complicated than I personally want to get involved in, but perhaps a few people could be enticed to share in an order of some plugs?

By the way, don't think I've mentioned it previously, but it was interesting last spring to see that a few sprigs of Corynephorus canescens 'Spiky Blue' actually came back...zone 7, according to some sites. Hmm, makes you wonder...

Thanks Lori, guess I was mistaken. In any case, I heard back from Bluestem...alas, listing the plant as Zone 2 was an error. Ah well, perhaps one day I'll come across some seed and give them a try that way.

I googled it. All of the images seem to come up on European sites. It looks like it's a native to UK. Most of the info I have found has also said zone 5 or warmer. What a beautiful grass though.

I found two sources in the U.S. One was in Illinois called Tripplebrook Farm. They have that plant classified as zone 4 for $7.95 per plant. The other was in Maryland called Earthly Pursuits. They rate the plant as zone 5 for $8.50 per plant.
