A well fed, winter coat Coyote.

Looks like a big healthy 'yotee to me too. If he's unusually large (hard to tell from pictures, so you'll know better) he could be a Coyote X. We have a big (and discomfortingly aggressive) one running around town right now that looks like it's a shepherd X.

That's a big guy, Konrad. I've seen a couple of those "biggies" near the airport this winter, but none from this close up. Must be a great year for the coyotes south of Edmonton.

Nice pictures Konrad! There must be lots of mice this winter. His size could be an illusion from the cold winter and the extra hair grown because of it.

Thanks for re-posted them, now I can see him! Great photos........it's not often you see these guys. From the howling we hear at night, we've got a couple of different groups very close to our house, and we rarely see any of them.

A couple of years ago, I walked into my back garden and one of these guys attacked the birds at the feeder. Luckily he didn't get any of the birds. I slowly started backing up...keeping my eye on him, he saw me and ran to the back of the yard, stopped...looked at me again. By that time I was at the front of the house and ran inside.

The one I saw, I thought was a wolf.....it was big as well....but was told it was probably a coyote. I was afraid to go out into the garden for the next couple of days after that, but he didn't stick around. Thank Goodness!

He' sure has a nice coat , eh? Its so long and has so many colours in it.

The way to know if you've seen a wolf or a coyote is if you see a wolf you'll know it for sure (and your skin will crawl) and if you're not sure, then it was probably a coyote or the neighbors big dog!

Once again, great shots Konrad! I think you must be the fastest 'draw' in the west :^)

When you see beauty out in nature, it is soo...gratifying, and when you can capture it with your camera, it is a bonus, this makes me wonder sometimes, why anyone could hunt and shoot them down!
I know, it's a touchy subject!....sometimes some species thrive more then others, then it's out of balance!.....I'm glad, I only shoot with camera.
