Wonderful Lori! Not a sign of crocuses in my garden yet, but most of it is in the shade on the north side... patience...

However! In the backyard, I discovered this blooming:

This is my first spring with Arabis, I am pretty thrilled to see it blooming so early! If memory serves, it bloomed (off and on) well into the fall last year. What a plant!

I have crocuses blooming too, single ones here and there - the "clump" ones haven't started yet.

The great thing about naturalizing bulbs... the "single ones" will soon be clumps too, in a couple of years! Yeah, but I know what you mean... most of my bigger, older clumps aren't in bloom yet either.

Ahhh, yes, spring is great! I just noticed that there is a bud on my Glory of the Snow (Chionodoxa). Now I'll be running out there checking to see if its open yet. LOL. The neighbours already must think I'm nuts staring at my bare flowerbeds! They just can't see it yet! LOL

I was getting funny looks from people passing by yesterday, as I was digging in my flowerbeds. (Fortunately my neighbor is even worse than me, so she understands completely.) Couldn't fight it any longer, so I started the spring cleanup. I swear that the grass grows under the snow just so it can get a headstart on the flowers.

The bed running along the south wall of the house is perfect digging temp/consistency. The little guy watched me from his playpen, and it hit 20 C in the sun. YEAH!!! It was beautiful. Oh, and the flocks of swans have started their migration over our house. (Always nice to see.)

I just finished weeding my flowerbeds! Yes, grass and dandylions seem to be in competition with each other. Oh well, hopefully I knocked them back enough now.

I heard the woodticks are terrible already out in the country... aaaah thank goodness for civilization! Actually my dog got one from somewhere in my yard once.

I am not a girly-girl and not scared of bugs - but do I ever hate woodticks!!

I have to agree with you there. Ticks are nasty little critters. I tend to hate spiders too (they give me the willies) but funny enough they don't seem to bother me outside. I can have them crawl right on me (the little ones anyway) and I just brush them off...but get them in the house and I'm calling for DH to come 'save' me from them big ol' nasty spiders. LOL!

It was so nice out last night that, after the little guy was down for the night, we got to go out and have a drink by the fire. Ahhh...I love spring!

Hmmm, haven't seen any ticks yet, but I'm sure they'll be along here soon. Haven't seen any snakes yet either, and for some reason we have quite a few around here. Maybe my banish the snakes dance has actually worked???LOL I only wish..........

We'll be having ticks shortly too. Dh was just reminding the dog about them. :) Our dog is a real tick-magnet! LOL

Being that we are at the edge of the valley we usually get a lot of woodticks. None yet this year. I'm sure that they will be here shortly though. We always put a solution on the dogs to ward off woodticks. I place it on their back right behind the neck by the shoulderblades. This solution is called Defend and I buy it at the vets. Once applied no woodticks will bother them for 4 - 6 weeks. I usually do 2 treatments each spring. We've had ticks here into August sometimes.
