Brown leaves

I bought a few daylilies last year at Lowe's. They were beautiful and easy to care for. I decided to use daylilies for my entire flower bed, so my husband took me to a daylily garden for my birthday, where he bought me seven garden clumps. They looked great, and it is a state inspected nursery. We planted them as soon as we got home. It was a three hour drive. It's been one week and the leaves are starting to turn brown. The clumps were large so I seperated some of them. Is there anything I can do to stop this? I water every other day.

It is very normal for newly transplanted daylilies to have their leaves turn yellow into brown. The outer foilage dies back as new green starts to grow. Once the foilage is past the yellowing stage, you should be able to peel off the outer leaves rather easily. I don't know that I would water them so much, especially if it is hot, as that could invite crown rot. Good luck, and what a GREAT BIRTHDAY gift! We want to know what you got!

I didn't choose any named flowers. I thought the hybrids were just as pretty and such a bargain. I'm posting my favorites. Thank you so much!!
