The white royal poinciana is Delonix elata. I have a couple grown from seed, from a pretty reliable source. One in the pot has barely grown, the one in the ground has grown over 10 feet in a year. I'm hoping maybe to see a few blooms come this spring.

I didnt even know what a amazon lily was unti lnow and wow they are very pretty. Do you think they would do well in jacksonville? If so I would love to put in a patch of them maybe below my split leaf if they would do well..
Would also love to try the white poinciana but again I dont know if it would grow here and I do have room for trees...

Was told by both Kew and NYBG that elata is an invalid pseudonym?? It's actually a color variety of regia or a true albinistic mutation not a true species?? There are also yellow as well as chageable color mutations species??
Whatever lol i have never seen one in flower know of any pix?? or specimens in florida?? I don't have the room for a full grown plant so went the dwarfing route. It is now crossing 10 years so I suspect it can not be dwarfed?? In any event would like to find someone with the room to give it a chance?? far to oddball to throw awaty lol. I seriously believe that it also permanently stunted.
Donna feel certain the Delonix would not do well if survive in your zone. In any event it's very large even in a pot shipping would be out of the question.
The amazon lily is quite common feel certain you could buy some in your area at less than shipping charges.??
I have no experience outside my tiny area of 10 lol.
One great asset over other bulb type plants is that it will flower more than once a year sometimes 3 .!!
Ask around your area about it?

Okay ,let's start over lol. What this is supposed to be
is a white form of Delonix regia not the white Delonix
elata.
According to Kew gardens (who would argue with them lol)
Delonix elata is a separate species for sure and probably enough differences to be a separate genus. There is also another species D.buccal.
They listed at least 5 color variations of Delonix regia
including a white which may or may not be an albino,therefore a pigment malformation not a color variety.
In any event mine has never flowered so for all I know it could be just an ordinary regia. I have never seen an elata in person so therefore can't compare leaves .There are some structural differences between elata and regia . Obvious in your pic. There also seem to be some differences in growth habit.
Since mine has been grown using some dwarfing techniques
there are obvious structural differences anyway. Again all I have to compare it to is neighborhood regias none of which are grown in a pot lol.

From the same seed co. I also got some Schizolobium amazonicum. which they swear is a different species from
S. parahyba. but according to Kew amazonicum is a synonym
. There is only one species. I bring this up as it makes me question their taxonomy ??

It;s the one that must go for sure and until I remove it the Amazons are underneath it. The amazons are so common I'm sure you could get them locally for less than shipping .Was hoping to find someone locally .
For those interested in the "great white whatever" Delonix. I found a neighbor who has room for it so will be able to see it develop over time.
