Spring is here, and here I am doing remedial fall bulb plantings! Am I the only one?

Chances are about even in a given year that I miss the fall bulb planting time and then hit the hard ground freeze, then have to overwinter them until spring. Here are some observations:

- "seed garlic" bought for planting does not survive well, usually drying out

- however, my own home-grown garlic from last summer (the leftovers we didn't eat!) overwinters beautifully in the same conditions, and I just planted out a bunch of firm robust cloves

- tulip and daffodil survival in a 40 degree garage is not terrible - maybe 2/3 make it thru without drying or molding
