I do have one patch of asparagus that I started from seed about 10 years ago. I don't exactly remember, but I'm assuming that I would have started them in the house in the early spring and transplanted them out in June. Unfortunately, I planted them too close to a spruce tree and now that the tree has grown bigger, the asparagus aren't doing as well there, so I've made another patch further away, but I bought roots for those and moved a few small seedlings from the older patch.

Since mine will self seed, I'd try sowing your seed now and see what happens. Good luck!

Heather, asparagus is easy from seed, either start the seed now indoors or directly sow outside ... though, I'd choose the frist option, especially if you don't have alot of seed on hand ... and remember, it does not germinate real quick.
