juniper branches for mulch in perrenial beds

I finally got the courage and pulled out the sprawling rash giving juniper, now I have a pile of boughs/branches. Now instead of putting it all in the trash can i use the cut up branches as a mulch in my perrenial bed in between perrenials and other shrubs. Will these branches sprout roots and give me 276 new junniper bushes. My soil could really use the organic matter as this decomposes. I also dig holes in the spring as I weed and bury a handful of leaves. I figure the earthworms will do the rest. But my burning question is: Will the junniper branches set down roots?
