Depending on your winter and how cold it gets will depend on the show of your daffodils. We had a very mild winter here in Manitoba and I have the best show of daffodils that I think I have ever had. I usually only see blooms on the daffodils that are planted right next to the house. This year the daffodils in the holding garden even bloomed for me and it has been about 8 years since they bloomed.

I always mulch the bed my daffodils are in with about 4-6" of straw, and move it away when they start to push the straw up. Generally, I get a reasonable show of daffodils. This year, like Brenda, mine are wonderful. If you aren't mulching your bulbs for winter, maybe thick mulch would help? I do have a problem with the mulch and crocus though. They are so short that they often bloom under the straw and I never get to see them.
