I don't have my list or book with me but I found many wonderful roses recommended in Lois Hole's book "Rose Favorites". I'm sure you could go to the Hole's nursery in St. Albert and find many roses with fragrance.

We are visiting in the Edmonton area and plan to visit the nursery as we always do.

That's more than five (Pavement comes in a variety of colours). And they're all basically indestructible.

If you go to the posts here called "Any Saskatchewan Gardeners?", Sazzyrose has what she calls a "horribly detailed report" that you might find very useful.

I've made myself a shopping list based on what she said =:)

Indeed the rugosas, 'Pierette Pavement' is especially fragrant. 'Theresa Bugnet' is always recommended. 'Morden Sunrise' has a wonderful citrus scent :)

There's just something missing when roses are not fragrant!

I couldn't remember if TB was fragrant, so I left it out :) Funny how I literally can't remember.

I find Morden Sunrise is only fragrant in the morning for me. But when it is, I can smell it from 50 feet away.

Henry Hudson is fragrant ( white) and so is Theresa Bugnet (pink), Both very hardy.

If you look at the "horribly detailed report" thread, I listed my roses by fragrance. All the rugosas except 'Polareis' are very fragrant. Dr. Merkeley is very fragrant and blooms after the rugosas have finished their first bloom period. It is 15 feet from the kitchen door but my wife, who has very poor vision , can always tell when it's first few blooms are open.

Marie Bugnet is supposed to be extremely fragrant and hardy.
