It was the DURATION of cold that was the problem this year past. So far, it has been a relatively cool Spring...and figs leaf out late. I am waiting for mine to show signs of life but will probably assume the worst and look around for more plants. My containerized one is probably done but the one in the ground will probably come back...eventually. Good luck.

I just got the barest beginning of a bud on my established fig, and I'm south of you. Yours may sprout yet! My bud is right at the soil line. Mine's an Italian Everbearing from NY; I don't know about the varieties you mention. But I wanted to say that your others might have hope :)

They will all likely resprout from the ground once the ground warms up consistently. I also lost all the top growth on my figs this past winter where we had 3 degrees, but like has been said it is the duration of the cold and not the actual low temperature.

We went down to -6 F 3 time and to -5 F once. We has several other nights below 0. I piled 2 feet of leaves over the trees and saved the bottom 18 inches. They are sprouting now that it has warmed.

I have started some chicago hardy, fico nero (black fig), and nero missione (black mission) cuttings under lights and in the case of the chicago hardy, I started cuttings directly in the ground. So far I have 4 or 5 cuttings starting to leaf out. I plan to put two in pots. Which varieties whould you use for the pots? I will overwinter them in an unheated shed.
