Help identifying fig [replaced with DK]

Hi Folks,

My dad [San Diego CA] has a fig tree in his yard, which he planted about 5 years ago. It's a green fig, but the figs never fully ripen before they start rotting. I think it might be because it's a variety like Kadota that needs more heat than his cool coastal climate [he lives just east of Mission Bay] can provide.

This picture, taken April 26, shows a fig and leaf, does anyone have an idea of what it might be?

I cut a few of the branches that hadn't yet leafed out and brought a few cuttings back to Albuquerque. They are in paper towels/ziplocks, and are starting to grow roots. Maybe they will do well here in my climate.

While I was there, we got [thanks to Jon] a Desert King for Dad's birthday [he turned 82 a week ago today], which we put in a large pot and will put in the ground next year. As you see, Dad looks very happy, and I am sure the Desert King will do well at his house.
