Hope you get rid of those Whiteflies!

Charlotte, NC ... I have never had whiteflies on my petunias Until this year. I don't know if they are priscilla's or not. But .. I can't get rid of them. They are also on my one good cucumber plant. In a smaller way they are on other things around the garden too, but they are voracious on the petunias/cukes. I've had them in years past and used insecticides and won the war. (Especially on my prized Gardenia!) I patiently turned over all leaves to spray. But .. no matter what I spray they are back in a matter of minutes! I too could use some help with WHAT TO DO? Thanks to anyone with a remedy!

Resurrecting an older post here, but because of this and another post earlier in the spring of 2006 I have now purchased these Priscilla petunias and can't wait. I am wondering, how can one make cuttings for my own personal use ($4/plant really adds up!). Is this with water, or using hormone, or just sticking in soil? And maybe it is too late in the spring (we usually plant out after the May Long weekend, although I will wait until the first week of June depending upon how our spring is progressing-and it really hasn't been this year yet!).

To propagate cuttings for my personal use (do not sell them) LOL

I will take a 4-6" cutting, carefully snip off the lower leaves and dip in rooting hormone (not too much), gently shake off excess. Take a pencil and poke a hole in your medium. Place cutting into that hole so not to rub the hormone off. Place containers in sink and let them soak up the water. Cover with a high plastic dome and place on heating mat (faster).
They usually take 10 days to take, then about another 10 days before they start going. They will be somewhat on the small size by June but will take off once you they get full sun, water and fertilizer.
