We have had one of these for probably 8 years now. Love them for so many reasons. They always kept their shape somewhat with minor pruning. We also thinned out the older branches. However this spring there was much dead wood and by the time we cut all that out, there are long branches with lots of leaves at the top but leafless for the bottom three quarters, and a few small leafy twigs at the bottom. This shrub is the focal feature in front of the bay window, and now looks most unsightly. Suggestions? We are thinking of cutting it out completely and restarting from scratch (new plant).
