Getting off to a bad start so far

Hey all,

Its been ages since I've been back here. All of my trees were basically taking care of themselves for years.

My brown turkey (7yr), bataglia green (5 yr) & calabria(6yr) black in pots are being don't want to grow. They are full of leave sprouts at the tips of branches, but wont push out. They are still completely bare. all Ive been giving them is miracle gro once a week. We did have a really bad few weeks with rain & no sun, but the progress is going abnormally slow on these 2 trees. scratching the bark reveals green underneath.

any ideas?

Hi Antonv,
been slow here for me near Chicago with lots of rain cool weather but now there picking up with warmer weather.
I also grow in containers.

When was last time you root pruned your trees.

Ive been putting off trimming the roots for 2 seasons now. they are pretty root bound. When is a good time for re-potting? Can I go ahead and do it now? Im not worried about production this year.....just want my trees to stay alive!

Do not root prune them now. The best time for root pruning is when the tree is dormant. You can repot those trees in larger containers than whet they are now. Make sure to root prune them around Jan.

Yes like Navid said no root prune now .
I do when dormant.
You can put in bigger pot if you wish anytime of year, i sneak up on the tree grab the trunk and lift it out of pot it never new what happened !
Been doing it for years but not with 5 year old plus trees .
Reason - those would already be in there final size pot.
