With all the rain my beds are full of weeds as well. Just came in from weeding as it is raining again.

Love the little yellow rose bush and that foxglove is looking fine.

I picked a bouquet of peonies from my Grandma's bush, NOID but it came from her garden, and am enjoying the fragrance.

I love your garden ! It looks very lush . I must ask about the ladder. Is it part of your garden design ? I bought an old wooden one at a flea market and plan on placing a birdhouse on top and a clematis at its feet to climb up.
What do you have growing near it ?

Lilyfinch - I have green pole beans - Cherokee Trail of Tears to be precise - growing up it. I find it is the perfect height and circumference to make it easy to pick them. And it looks dramatic when it fills in and has the pink flowers on it!! There is a birdhouse on the little shelve, and I put Walker's Low catmint in the middle near the front and nepetia cataria at the back. A clematis would look lovely!!

Annette - it feels so good to play in the dirt. I can no longer kneel to plant and weed, the new knee doesn't like it, and it is so hard to get up from the ground - I need a gizmo like yours. I take an armless chair and weed from the that and I am slowly getting stretched back out!!

Nancy: you just gave me the best idea ever. we have an old ladder that's not being used and I happen to have a new clematis, josephine, I wonder if she would love her new trellis? thank you for my light bulb moment!:-)

Oh when those beans fill out will you post a picture of your ladder for us ?! I love the idea !!
Southern gal , just in case you don't know , we still need some kind of netting for the clematis to cover ! :) I have never grown Josephine but it looks pretty !

Thanks Southerngardening - I borrowed that idea from a magazine years ago. At an old house, I had an old 'lean' style ladder up against a tree, and put house plants on the rung for the summer, with small pots of brightly coloured annuals. It made a great display and gave my indoor plants a good space to summer. My Christmas cacti really benefit from a good feed and a summer outside in the shade!!
Lilyfinch, I will keep you updated on the beans. I have a few other beans - Aunti Vi's - trying to go up the laundry post, but the puppy has developed a taste for their leaves!!

Just a heads up about the 'Auntie Vi Italian Pole Beans' I sent you, they're now known as 'Emilia's Italian Pole Beans'.
I finally found out the history on them and have renamed them in honour of the Italian immigrant that brought them here in 1911. I was first given them by a neighbour in 1965, the only information given me at the time was they were brought here in the early 1900's by an Italian immigrant. This is the bean that started my addiction to heirloom beans LOL. I had a couple of threads about the Auntie Vi's on the Beans, Peas and other Legumes forum about them.
