What is this bug on my rose!?

Please help me identify this bug on my Pink Peace rose!!!

I noticed today that there were many of these insects on my Pink Peace, especially over the flower buds and newer leaves:

What on earth is it please?! Do I need to get rid of it?!

Some sort of stink bug, not sure what they'll harm when too many. I've seen some some the other day but usually I don't have to worry about.

Thanks, konrad and Donna!

I Googled "tarnished plant bug" and it looks just like it!!! Donna, you are GOOD!!!!!!!

Now, I read that it's a major pest for fruit but they didn't say much about roses and things. Since I posted, I went outside again and found them also over the buds of my peonies and things too! I may need to do something about it....

According to the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food, 2% Safer's Soap should help you out quite a bit.

Looks like we need to keep Donna around :)

Thanks, nursaboutflowers! I just got some Safer's 2% soap spray today - hopefully that will take care of these bugs! Thanks again.
