That is so cool Doris! How is that done, cut flowers from garden, lay and display them on the scanner and push start?

Sharon, it seems that's exactly how it's done. There are several threads with scanned flower photos on the Oz Garden Gallery forum. Here are the instructions that I found on one post:

Yes we all learned from each other in those days, as we are still doing... all you do is place the flowers face down on the glass of the scanner and leave the lid open. The flowers don't get crushed and it gives that lovely black background. Some of the girls used to use a sheet of light grey paper over the flowers and that gave a different aspect..."

Sounds easy enough. Sharon, I thought you'd be the one who'd want to try this. And, you have enough variety in your garden to make beautiful compositions. I'll be watching for them!!

That is amazing, I never would have thought of scanning flowers directly. Looks like they have a good scanner, given the detail, nice arrangements too.

To tell you the truth Doris, I just can't make myself to cut any fresh flowers from the garden, I rather enjoy them outdoors. I'm too chicken, you try it first ;) LOL

I've always been this way, yet I have vases and vases and all kinds of glass bowls just sitting in the house collecting dust!

Now if you'd all like to see a nice display of Canada Thistle or Hemp-Nettle, I'd be happy to scan some for you ;)

I've done that - not quite so artistically, of course! My daughter's mother-in-law scans flowers and i tried it last fall just to see how it looked. Actually, what she does is print out the picture and then make a painting of it. Allison has a couple of pictures of daisies that her mil did for her.
