No its not to late to plant. Actually now is an excellant time, with all those plants on sale. Which reminds me....I should take a trip to the nursery and see if the perennials are on sale here. hee hee Thanks for the reminder.

And like Sierra said, it's not too late to plant. It better not be, as I'm still not done all my planting yet. Yes, those sales can be a great thing. I've picked up some shrubs for a $1 each, and clematis for $4. You just can't go wrong with prices like that, and with any potted plants, they can be planted right up to 6 weeks before the ground freezes. But I try to make sure that everything's in the ground by mid September, just to make sure ;^)

Thanks for the responses and welcomes. I am happy to hear that I can still plant. Sierra, happy sale hunting and Laurie..where are you getting those shrubs and clematis from? I am looking for a red clematis that is hardy to our area. Any ideas?

Be sure to input your birthday in the conversation section and some of us (as we get around to it) are posting a picture of our families & pets. I have one more pet to take a picture of and then I will post our family. Our black cocker spaniel has been hard to take a picture of, so far.

In Brandon, there have been some excellent prices on perennials and shrubs. If you are near Winnipeg then check out some of the nurseries. There is a little nursery just east of Shelmerdine's that had all their plants 1/2 price. I picked up a clematis there for $7 a few weeks ago.

Laurie and I got some stuff at Canadian Tire for $1. I bought a Prince Charming Lilac for $1 there.

Home Depot was selling the clematis for $4 and Walmart was selling clematis for $5. At that price it is at least 1/3 of regular nursery prices.

Roses at Walmart are $4 and a lot of their shrubs and trees are 1/4 of the original price this week. Some trees regularly $25 were on for $7. None that I wanted though.

Check around Winnipeg and maybe phone the places first if you need to and see what their prices are now.

Because the perennials, shrubs and trees are already potted in pots you can just pop them out and into the ground in your yard and they will be fine. Just give them a good watering.

It is not too late for bareroot stuff either. I am just planting up irises I received from a friend and daylilies just were planted in pots a few weeks ago, awaiting their new home in my yard when I figure out where that will be.

Catt, a good hardy red clematis that's fairly easy to find is Madame Julia Correvan. I picked this one up at Walmart, but Home Depot also had it here in Brandon.
