What I was trying to do is post the 'actual pic' instead of the link?? Also how do you make it smaller? Thanks

Ellix: Copy the "html" tag line. I think if you click in the box it will automatically copy. Then come back to the message box and paste it in....I did one for you ;)

Lisa, thanks, I tried several times but it keeps saying 'not valid internet URL', says optional link URL

Ellix: I can't imagine what is not working right. Hmm. You clicked inside the HTML Tag box? It said "copied"? then you came back here, clicked inside the message box, right clicked on your mouse and clicked paste (or go through your Edit menu)?

I don't know that it would make a difference, but you can play with my account and see if that makes any difference. I hide all my tags except my html tag, so my page will look a little different than yours.

If that still doesn't help, I'll see if I can send some others this way to help out.

On making the images smaller, I think Photobucket has an edit feature, when you are logged into your account, click edit and there is a resize feature. There is also a manual way to do it in html. It's not difficult, but it might just be easier to do it within photobucket.

I manually resized this one for you:

To manually resize, within the html code I added width="200" height="150" right before the border, so it looks like this (I replaced the with parentheses so you could see the code)

    (a href="http://photobucket.com"; target="_blank")(img src="http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z296/ellix_photo/KellyRambo001.jpg"; width="200" height="150" border="0" alt="Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket")(/a)

Gosh Lisa, I am very frustrated. I did exactly as you said. I did not go any where else. Sill the same message. I did go to your site to practice and it rejected as well. Cound Mcafee have anything to do with it?

Ellix, I am so sorry. I can't imagine what is not working right. I'll see if I can't find someone that might be able to help you. Maybe there is a step I'm missing.

Hopefully someone will come along shortly. In the meantime, I'm attaching a thread from the Winter Sowing Forum about posting. It's a long thread, but hopefully there will be something in there to help you.

You shouldn't be getting an "invalid url" message from the html link (3rd box in list, under each picture). As soon as you left click within the 3rd box it will say copied, you just have to come back to your GW post, right click and select copy. You can then preview your GW message to see if it worked right.

I've gone to your album and the lily pictures don't seem to be too big so I wouldn't worry about resizing those particular ones.

If someone doesn't come along to save the day, you could always link directly to your album from the GW linking provided under the message composition box. From your photobucket album, copy the website address from the top of your screen and put that in the "Optional Link URL:" box and then for the name of the link you just call it My album (or something similar)

    Hope that works :)

p.s. I said the same thing as lisah, just a little differently. It took me forever to figure it out too :)

I think I see what your problem is. You're copying the HTML tag into the "Otional Link URL" window at the bottom of the posting screen.

Try pasting it right into the "Message:" box.

ellix - Are you using Photobucket to store your pics? That is where you get the HTML line, below the pic. It is one of 4 lines. You copy the HTML line then paste it on a separate line in the text you are writing for the post. You will get a long line of jibberish, but when you preview your post, the pic should be there. DO NOT put it in one of the link boxes below your post. They are for creating links to other sites.

You can't post at GW without going through a host, like Photobucket.

    Hope this helps

Keep in mind when you post a picture it becomes property of gardenweb. I'm not sure about links to pictures though.

Great job, Ellix, and your lilies are gorgeous! And so good of y'all to assist her.

Ellix, if you want to learn more about posting pics here go to the "Gallery". Look above the list of posts on this page for the Gallery link....there are instructions there for different ways to post pictures here. Please do NOT reply to the instruction thread though, we want it to stay on top so all newbies can find the instructions.

    Welcome to the Cottage!
