Sounds like it may be a Ivory Silk Lilac tree. Marg

aka japanese tree lilac, syringa reticulata. Mine are blooming now - they are heavily scented and huge blooms.

Argh, I just posted and it didn't post. You have it Marg, thanks! I didn't even think of lilacs being a nicely shaped tree and blooming so late. I thinks I need one!

How much room do you have Gil, where you wish to put it? I have a mature one here in the yard and it must be about 20' high and 15' in diameter. The scent hovers over that end of the flowerbeds when it is in bloom.

Brenda, I wish mine would hurry up and grow that big. They do smell divine don't they? How long have you had yours? Mine are only about 5 yrs. old. I get a lot of winter kill on it each spring so it has been slow to take off. It's weird to see a tree that has flowers only on the south side because the buds on the
north side froze! Marg
