Shrubs for Shade

Everyone here has so much knowledge so I would like to ask your opinion. I have a new cedar mulched bed (facing north) in a very well protected spot in the corner of my house. It would be 16 feet long and 5 feet wide. It is very shady until mid/late afternoon until the sun hits it. I would like to plant a couple of shrubs that would do well in shade. These shrubs should only grow to about 3 - 5 feet in height. Does anyone have any good ideas for shrubs that can take a lot of shade?

Thanks!
