Clear our prices in Calgary.

For anyone in Calgary. Sunnyside is clearing out it's annuals (includes gallon pots, etc.). There is quite a good selection of all types of common and not-so-common annuals. Thousands available. The price is 2 full flats for 9.97. A flat is whatever fits on it (such as 6 one-gallon pots...six squares, etc.) Most of the plants are in excellent condition. Our garden is bursting so we only purchased 2 flats of rarer varieties of geraniums. There are lots of cells and pots of lavaterra, sweat peas, zinnias, nasturtiums, pansies, ornamental cabbages, 'odd-ball' annuals, etc.

Thanks, SO MUCH, for the heads-up, alpiner! I went to Sunnyside late this afternoon. I hate to tell you this...by the time I filled 4 flats with Wave Petunias, Million Bells, Fuchsia, ageratum and three varieties of formium (regular cost EACH: $34.99), the price had dropped to "Buy one full flat for $9.97; get the second full flat FREE". My 4 flats cost all of $19.94!! I had to do a bit of picking to get the best plants, but, you're right, there's still lots of good material left. What a boon for those who suffered lots of hail damage recently.

For those living close to the garden centre, it may be worth going back a couple of times in the next little while, if only to see how low the prices go!!

Thanks, so very much, for your post. Now, I can freshen up my container plantings!! :-)

We couldn't resist so went back last night. Who can resist $35 pots of various hard-toget annual grasses for 75cents? But, sure enough, we walk into Walmart today and everything is 50 cents. We bought a couple of two gallon hibiscus in bloom for 50cents each..plus GST..1.06 for both. wow.

Oh, yes, there were also big banana plants on sale for 75 cents so we bought 4...gave 3 to neighbrhood kids who are thrilled. The only downside was the banana trees don't come with a free monkey.

Gwendylin, I went back to Sunnyside last Thursday...and the price was 49¢ per pot or pack (slightly higher for geraniums). The bigger the pot, the bigger the savings. I got 5 one-gallon pots of Pennisetum "Rubrum" (normally $10 each) for less than $3 total (incl. tax.)

If you're going back, you need to hurry. Plants are flying out the door. If you like Purple Wave Petunias, they still had lots (in 6" pots), and they had a good selection of geraniums.

The way the prices were headed, this week they might be paying YOU to take the plants off their hands!! LOL

Alpiner...you're probably lucky that monkeys aren't included with the banana tress. I hear they can be quite a handful!!

Thanks, once again, for your original post! It's so fun to get a good bargain!
